Our clinical pain research studies primarily on the assessment and management of acute, chronic and cancer pain. Patients with complaints of pain and/or signs of need for additional pain management are referred to us. In applicable cases, pain evaluation will be done on patients for research purpose.
Acute Pain
Post-tramatic and post-surgical patients are evaluated for studies in acute pain management and sedation. In many post- dental surgery and other acute pain cases, we also identified candidates for new analgesics.
Chronic Pain
Post-surgical chronic pain and Cancer pain
The research is often cross-disciplinary, studying the severity, recovery process, and other pain management methods in neuropathic, orofacial, lower-back, cancer and other chronic pain cases.Cross-sectional and long-term surveys on pain-affected patients are performed in order toidentify new markers indicating chronic pain disorders.
Effects of pain inpsychological and functionalbehaviors, as well as psychological and psychiatric therapies to help patients in coping with chronic pain.
Goals and Future Plans
Our goal in clinical pain studies is primarily to investigate and enhance the efficacy of pain treatments and their application techniques in both acute and chronic pain. We also aim to evaluate the side effects, efficacy and safety of different pain treatments. In the future, we would like to investigate in other modern pain management techniques including Chinese medicine analgesics in the clinical setting.
