Research
We conduct both clinical and laboratory research. Our main research areas include pain medicine, total intravenous anaesthesia, and postoperative cognitive dysfunction and neuroinflammation. Most of our clinical trials are conducted at Queen Mary Hospital, but other research sites include the HKU Shenzhen Hospital and the Duchess of Kent Children’s hospital. A number of our research projects are done in collaboration with researchers from Hong Kong and around the world. We are involved in international multicentre research projects. We also have a fully staffed and equipped laboratory at the Laboratory Block, Faculty of Medicine Buildings. The main focus is to perform translational research that has a clinical impact.
