RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Liao's research focuses on understanding the intricate metabolic mechanisms underlying diabetic neuropathy (DNP) and neuropathic pain, aiming to uncover novel therapeutic targets for these debilitating conditions. She is particularly interested in exploring how metabolic dysregulation contributes to neuronal dysfunction and pain pathways in DNP. In her previous work, she utilized both in vivo and in vitro models to investigate the molecular pathways involved in neuronal death following stroke. Her broader research interests include bridging the fields of neurodegeneration and chronic pain through translational approaches, integrating molecular biology, neuroscience, and therapeutic development.
